Bourbon Boule 2023, hosted by the Black Bourbon Society, brought together bourbon enthusiasts from near and far for a weekend filled with unique experiences and celebrations of bourbon culture. The event, held over the Labor Day weekend, featured a diverse range of activities designed to delight attendees and deepen their appreciation for the beloved spirit.
The festivities kicked off with a warm and inviting welcome lunch, Sponsored by Louisville Tourism, that set the tone for the weekend ahead. During this lunch Elmer Lucille Allen was honored, the bourbon industry’s first black chemist. Attendees had the opportunity to select their preferred distillery tour, allowing them to explore firsthand the craftsmanship and tradition behind some of the most renowned bourbon brands.
In addition to the distillery tours, branded dinners provided guests with an exclusive dining experience, where they could savor delicious cuisine expertly paired with fine bourbons. Educational sessions offered valuable insights into the history, production, and tasting techniques of bourbon, enriching the knowledge of both seasoned connoisseurs and newcomers alike.
There was also a vibrant and enriching brunch alongside a panel discussion featuring the esteemed brand founders from Diversity Distilled’s 2023 Black Owned Spirits Summit (BOSS) Cohort. We heard from the innovative minds behind Redd Rose Vodka, Casa de Reyes Reposado Tequila, Greenwood Whiskey, Red Hazel Whiskey, and Mt. Pleasant Club Whiskey as they shared their insights, experiences, and visions in the spirits industry. The attendees were able to engage with these trailblazing individuals and gain a deeper understanding of their craft and journey.
For those looking to stay active, morning workout sessions were available to help guests start their day on a healthy and energizing note. Meanwhile, the sip suites offered a more laid-back setting where attendees could leisurely sample a variety of bourbon brands, each with its own unique flavors and characteristics.
