Touring Michter's Distillery at Fort Nelson
Michter's Distillery was founded in 1753 in Pennsylvania, and is originally known for its quality rye whiskey. Over the years the distillery faced challenges, changed ownership multiple times, and even closed their doors for a period of time. However, their commitment to traditional methods and dedication to crafting great whiskeys have remained constant throughout its history.
During our visit, we learned what set Michter’s apart from other distilleries. They barrel at an industry lower entry proof, and they have a process of toasting barrels before charring. We also learned out their method of heat cycling their warehouses. That same day, their were Bottle Your Own slots available, and we had the opportunity to bottle our own Barrel Strength Bourbon!

Remember, whiskey is to be enjoyed responsibly and in moderation. Take your time, sip slowly, and revel in the moment as you unlock the secrets hidden within each pour.
